Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Machinery and Communication sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.47% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202), which rose 16.08% or 150.0 points to trade at 1083.0 at the close. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) added 15.57% or 1122.0 points to end at 8330.0 and Takara Holdings Inc. (T:2531) was up 10.35% or 134.0 points to 1429.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714), which lost 9.08% or 375.0 points to trade at 3755.0 in late trade. Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:7762) declined 6.55% or 56.0 points to end at 799.0 and Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) shed 5.89% or 66.0 points to 1054.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1947 to 1465 and 177 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.84% to 15.19.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.24% or 0.17 to $70.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.31% or 0.24 to hit $76.88 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1321.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 109.52, while EUR/JPY rose 0.41% to 131.15.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 92.25.
