Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Gas & Water and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103), which rose 7.33% or 20.00 points to trade at 293.00 at the close. Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) added 5.69% or 132.00 points to end at 2,450.00 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (TYO:5301) was up 4.78% or 48.00 points to 1,053.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107), which lost 3.28% or 250.00 points to trade at 7,380.00 in late trade. Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) declined 2.74% or 190.00 points to end at 6,740.00 and Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (TYO:8804) shed 1.98% or 43.00 points to 2,133.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2052 to 1492 and 259 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.16% to 21.02.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.46% or 0.39 to $85.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.64% or 0.59 to hit $92.59 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 2.95 to trade at $1,681.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.21% to 143.49, while EUR/JPY rose 0.27% to 143.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 109.31.
