Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass, Precision Instruments and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which rose 4.05% or 135.0 points to trade at 3470.0 at the close. Keio Corp. (T:9008) added 3.83% or 200.0 points to end at 5420.0 and Suzuki Motor Corp. (T:7269) was up 3.77% or 236.0 points to 6504.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506), which lost 7.33% or 285.0 points to trade at 3605.0 in late trade. Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602) declined 4.68% or 160.0 points to end at 3260.0 and Okuma Corp. (T:6103) shed 4.13% or 250.0 points to 5800.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2231 to 1175 and 171 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.86% to 16.19.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.24% or 0.16 to $67.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $72.09 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 4.90 to trade at $1244.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 112.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.27% to 131.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.13.
