Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Precision Instruments and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101), which rose 3.54% or 112.00 points to trade at 3,278.00 at the close. Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009) added 3.09% or 135.00 points to end at 4,500.00 and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (TYO:9104) was up 2.53% or 85.00 points to 3,450.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Konica Minolta, Inc. (TYO:4902), which lost 2.35% or 13.00 points to trade at 541.00 in late trade. Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5202) declined 1.88% or 12.00 points to end at 625.00 and SoftBank Group Corp. (TYO:9984) shed 1.33% or 69.00 points to 5,100.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2519 to 1029 and 268 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.37% to 17.30.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.33% or 0.27 to $80.43 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.36% or 0.31 to hit $84.81 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.76% or 15.40 to trade at $2,011.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.09% to 132.25, while EUR/JPY rose 0.18% to 144.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 101.76.
