Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107), which rose 3.66% or 51.0 points to trade at 1446.0 at the close. Softbank Group Corp. (T:9984) added 3.44% or 178.0 points to end at 5350.0 and CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) was up 2.54% or 105.0 points to 4240.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983), which lost 1.78% or 1190.0 points to trade at 65640.0 in late trade. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) declined 1.51% or 50.0 points to end at 3270.0 and Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (T:5901) shed 1.36% or 29.0 points to 2110.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2545 to 960 and 216 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.80 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.13% or 0.65 to $56.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.07% or 0.68 to hit $63.14 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.85 to trade at $1417.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was unchanged 0.00% to 107.82, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 121.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.345.
