Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Railway & Bus, Transport and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were East Japan Railway Co. (TYO:9020), which rose 4.23% or 305.00 points to trade at 7,520.00 at the close. Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (TYO:5713) added 3.93% or 174.00 points to end at 4,596.00 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) was up 3.60% or 290.00 points to 8,350.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mazda Motor Corp (TYO:7261), which lost 3.80% or 47.00 points to trade at 1,189.00 in late trade. Subaru Corp (TYO:7270) declined 2.73% or 72.50 points to end at 2,580.00 and SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (TYO:9412) shed 2.51% or 14.00 points to 544.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1818 to 1612 and 339 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.74% to 19.15.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.76% or 0.67 to $88.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.73% or 0.69 to hit $94.69 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.29% or 5.10 to trade at $1,735.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.39% to 142.27, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 144.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 107.79.
