Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Mining and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911), which rose 2.47% or 124.00 points to trade at 5,152.00 at the close. Sumitomo Realty & Development Co. (TYO:8830) added 2.28% or 79.00 points to end at 3,549.00 and Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) was up 2.24% or 6.00 points to 274.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TYO:5707), which lost 3.27% or 83.00 points to trade at 2,453.00 in late trade. Mitsubishi Logistics Corp. (TYO:9301) declined 2.48% or 90.00 points to end at 3,535.00 and Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324) shed 2.31% or 100.00 points to 4,235.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1798 to 1674 and 303 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 13.06% to 20.69.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.25% or 0.22 to $88.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.14% or 0.13 to hit $94.23 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.76% or 13.05 to trade at $1,696.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.26% to 143.52, while EUR/JPY rose 0.21% to 143.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 109.45.
