Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Gas & Water and Trading sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were ANA Holdings Inc (TYO:9202), which rose 3.74% or 106.50 points to trade at 2,957.50 at the close. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519) added 3.50% or 115.00 points to end at 3,397.00 and Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) was up 2.37% or 150.00 points to 6,490.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107), which lost 3.92% or 135.00 points to trade at 3,305.00 in late trade. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (TYO:9104) declined 3.15% or 110.00 points to end at 3,385.00 and Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) shed 3.13% or 106.00 points to 3,283.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2190 to 1366 and 299 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.56% to 16.10.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.16% or 0.90 to $76.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.14% or 0.93 to hit $80.53 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.08% or 1.55 to trade at $1,992.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 134.26, while EUR/JPY rose 0.00% to 147.40.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 101.54.
