Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Electrical/Machinery and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506), which rose 4.28% or 220.00 points to trade at 5,360.00 at the close. Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (TYO:3863) added 3.52% or 37.00 points to end at 1,089.00 and Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) was up 2.56% or 160.00 points to 6,410.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6770), which lost 5.41% or 74.00 points to trade at 1,294.00 in late trade. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) declined 4.11% or 140.00 points to end at 3,265.00 and Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) shed 3.02% or 110.00 points to 3,532.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1847 to 1752 and 234 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.20% to 16.59.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.83% or 0.63 to $76.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.73% or 0.60 to hit $82.64 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.36% or 6.65 to trade at $1,818.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.19% to 136.46, while EUR/JPY rose 0.00% to 144.48.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 104.81.
