Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Transportation Equipment and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Corp. (TYO:8058), which rose 3.72% or 258.00 points to trade at 7,200.00 at the close. Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (TYO:8031) added 3.31% or 184.00 points to end at 5,748.00 and SoftBank Group Corp. (TYO:9984) was up 2.84% or 185.00 points to 6,691.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sompo Holdings Inc (TYO:8630), which lost 5.34% or 348.00 points to trade at 6,167.00 in late trade. Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8766) declined 5.09% or 173.00 points to end at 3,226.00 and MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (TYO:8725) shed 4.83% or 254.00 points to 5,006.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1777 to 1770 and 298 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.01% to 20.53.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.10% or 0.07 to $71.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.29% or 0.22 to hit $76.31 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 4.35 to trade at $1,966.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.18% to 141.74, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 155.11.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 101.94.
