Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which rose 5.55% or 449.0 points to trade at 8543.0 at the close. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) added 3.28% or 200.0 points to end at 6300.0 and Nomura Holdings Inc (T:8604) was up 2.27% or 9.0 points to 405.3 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which lost 2.78% or 55.0 points to trade at 1925.0 in late trade. Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (T:8303) declined 2.72% or 40.0 points to end at 1430.0 and Kuraray Co., Ltd. (T:3405) shed 2.46% or 30.0 points to 1189.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2006 to 1399 and 316 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.34.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.23% or 0.13 to $55.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $60.37 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.53% or 8.05 to trade at $1507.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.14% to 106.47, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 118.20.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 98.067.
