Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103), which rose 3.55% or 11.0 points to trade at 321.0 at the close. Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) added 3.00% or 8.0 points to end at 275.0 and Sojitz Corp. (T:2768) was up 2.78% or 9.0 points to 333.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which lost 4.28% or 190.0 points to trade at 4250.0 in late trade. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) declined 3.59% or 64.0 points to end at 1718.0 and Fanuc Corp. (T:6954) shed 2.26% or 415.0 points to 17955.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2272 to 1163 and 259 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.41.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.89% or 0.49 to $54.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.43% or 0.25 to hit $58.41 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 6.75 to trade at $1536.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.11% to 106.09, while EUR/JPY fell 0.34% to 116.08.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 99.260.
