Todd Hibberd has been appointed to the role of Principal Geologist at Intra Energy Corporation Ltd (ASX:IEC), as the company focuses on advancing the Yalgarra magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE Project 70 kilometres east of Kalbarri in Western Australia.
IEC will draw on Hibberd’s decades-long minerals industry experience in exploration, development, and production roles.
Hibberd has worked across a range of commodities, principally in gold, copper-gold, nickel, base metals and lithium and led the discovery of the +800,000-ounce gold equivalent Chanach copper-gold porphyry deposit in the Kyrgyz Republic, and the two million tonne Mandiodo Nickel deposit in Indonesia.
He was as also responsible for the development and mining of 500,000 ounce gold deposits in Western Australia.
“Todd’s appointment represents the next step in our strategic plan for the company., IEC managing director, Benjamin Dunn said.
“We have recently appointed Dahrougue Geological Consultants to manage the exploration on the Llama Lithium Projects in Canada and with Todd’s appointment, we now have a highly experienced in-house geologist which strengthens our team as we move towards advancing our exploration programs in Australia and Canada.”
Rapid advancement
With Hibberd’s guidance, IEC is looking to rapidly advance exploration at the Yalgarra Project where recent exploration has identified several magmatic nickel-copper sulphide targets.
The company will use a combination of geochemistry and geophysics. An initial geological review will be followed by field exploration focussed on ground truthing the key nickel- copper targets.
IEC will also investigate the extent of the recent anomalous lithium results in the Northern block.
