Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Healthcare and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 2.20% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which rose 9.97% or 0.077 points to trade at 0.849 at the close. Terna Energy (AT:TENr) added 8.75% or 0.21 points to end at 2.61 and Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) was up 7.00% or 0.007 points to 0.107 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which lost 3.52% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.96 in late trade. Titan Cement (AT:TTNr) declined 2.53% or 0.500 points to end at 19.300 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) shed 1.64% or 0.01 points to 0.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 68 to 30 and 10 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.00% or 12.40 to $1232.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.12% or 1.16 to hit $36.02 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.73% or 1.08 to trade at $38.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1109, while EUR/GBP rose 0.98% to 0.7842.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.61.
