Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Retail and Household sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 9.32% or 0.022 points to trade at 0.258 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (AT:EEEr) added 6.50% or 1.6550 points to end at 27.1350 and Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr) was up 5.92% or 0.085 points to 1.520 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which lost 6.88% or 0.011 points to trade at 0.149 in late trade. Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA) declined 5.98% or 0.110 points to end at 1.730 and Intracom Hold (AT:INRr) shed 5.81% or 0.054 points to 0.876.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 67 to 46 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.50% or 20.00 to $1350.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $59.16 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.13 to trade at $62.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.36% to 1.2397, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8889.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 89.23.
