Gold Hydrogen Ltd (ASX:GHY) has moved from strength to strength at the Ramsay Natural Hydrogen and Helium Project, with the latest testing at its Stage 2 exploration well revealing exceptionally high purities of helium.
The helium concentrations in the Ramsay well appear to be at levels usually extracted from water – third party interim laboratory results registered 20% to 25% purity, some 50,000 times the concentration in the atmosphere, among the highest purities ever reported.
The testing also revealed another major breakthrough; concentrations of both hydrogen and helium are present in the well all the way to the surface, which could be an international first for a non-petroleum gas system.
High levels of international interest
“We successfully continue our efforts to confirm that potentially extensive quantities of both Natural Hydrogen and Helium in world-class purities exist over only a portion of this permit, and we believe this will be extended to larger portions of our permitted area as outlined in the historical data,” Gold Hydrogen managing director Neil McDonald said.
“To have an initial world first to see Hydrogen and Helium to surface is very exciting for our further ongoing exploration and drilling programs in even better locations.
“Our results to date only confirm the global interest our project has been receiving, and why we are very proud to be working with Mizuho Bank with their global clients’ interests in both Natural Hydrogen and Helium.”
GHY has inked a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Mizuho, establishing a framework to develop a relationship with the major Japanese bank, which may include advisory assignments and cooperative promotion and marketing.
Mizuho has several Japanese energy industry clients with global operations interested in issues associated with the discovery, usage and environmental, social, governmental and sustainability benefits of natural hydrogen and helium.
Promising Stage 2 testing results
Overall, GHY is confident there is now enough current and historical evidence to confirm the presence of both natural hydrogen and helium in multiple locations across the PEL 687 permit.

Hydrogen and helium purity levels in both test wells are increasing as they’re dewatered, offering encouraging evidence further optimisation of well locations could offer even greater gas flows.

The company has also completed the acquisition phase of a 2D seismic survey over Ramsay, with initial analysis indicating the data will be valuable in targeting future well locations on a regional basis.
Gold Hydrogen will leverage the results from the survey and Phase 2 testing for future drilling and well completion designs for the future pilot program, and for longer-term commercialisation planning.
