FRANKFURT, Sept 27 (Reuters) - German salt and fertilizer company K+S SDFGn.DE is examining prospects for takeovers and the development of mines in Australia and Asia, a German newspaper reported on Sunday, citing a company spokesman.
"We are exploring possibilities to better develop the market in the Asia-Pacific region," the spokesman told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, in a report released ahead of publication on Monday.
K+S is not present in Australia and only has sales offices in Asia, the paper said.
K+S is the target of a takeover offer from Canada's Potash Corp POT.TO POT.N , but the two sides are not actively discussing a deal, following an earlier rejection of it by K+S.
