Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.44%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which rose 9.28% or 2.19 points to trade at 25.78 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) added 5.16% or 0.630 points to end at 12.850 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was up 4.72% or 3.36 points to 74.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dassault Systemes (PA:DAST), which lost 3.06% or 3.35 points to trade at 106.15 in late trade. Safran SA (PA:SAF) declined 1.69% or 1.85 points to end at 107.85 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) shed 1.37% or 0.86 points to 61.74.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Altran Technologies (PA:ALTT) which rose 12.37% to 8.905, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 8.87% to settle at 43.06 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 9.28% to close at 25.78.
The worst performers were SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which was down 4.44% to 118.30 in late trade, Thales (PA:TCFP) which lost 3.35% to settle at 111.05 and Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which was down 3.09% to 100.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 365 to 223 and 84 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 13.27% to 22.96 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.70 to $1230.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.62% or 0.42 to hit $67.17 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.18 to trade at $77.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1383, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8891.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 96.40.
