Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.37%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.07% or 0.370 points to trade at 18.205 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 1.52% or 1.20 points to end at 80.15 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 0.92% or 0.17 points to 18.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sodexo (PA:EXHO), which lost 1.62% or 1.95 points to trade at 118.55 in late trade. Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) declined 1.21% or 1.45 points to end at 118.60 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) shed 0.93% or 0.23 points to 24.05.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which rose 3.47% to 62.600, Aeroports De Paris SA (PA:ADP) which was up 2.99% to settle at 144.80 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which gained 2.46% to close at 58.730.
The worst performers were Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which was down 2.34% to 41.19 in late trade, JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which lost 2.09% to settle at 29.55 and Alten (PA:LTEN) which was down 2.07% to 78.92 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 332 to 269 and 104 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.77% to 14.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.19% or 2.36 to $1245.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.22% or 0.53 to hit $42.98 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.56% or 0.72 to trade at $45.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1143, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8804.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.38.
