Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.40%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which fell 0.19% or 0.25 points to trade at 128.40 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) fell 0.19% or 0.04 points to end at 18.17 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was down 0.26% or 0.21 points to 81.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which lost 3.08% or 2.16 points to trade at 68.04 in late trade. Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) declined 3.03% or 1.51 points to end at 48.44 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) shed 2.89% or 0.57 points to 19.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which rose 1.57% to 43.08, ICADE (PA:ICAD) which was up 0.94% to settle at 76.04 and Gecina Nom. (PA:GFCP) which gained 0.93% to close at 130.05.
The worst performers were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 4.17% to 73.920 in late trade, Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which lost 3.25% to settle at 10.730 and Numericable SFR SA (PA:SFRGR) which was down 3.08% to 31.450 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 432 to 146 and 99 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 16.12% to 14.56.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.20% or 15.13 to $1277.73 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.41% or 0.20 to hit $49.37 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.32 to trade at $52.46 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1742, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.9038.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 93.52.
