Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.09%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI), which rose 4.87% or 5.25 points to trade at 113.10 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 4.49% or 0.83 points to end at 19.45 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 0.58% or 0.52 points to 90.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which lost 6.02% or 1.14 points to trade at 17.81 in late trade. STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) declined 3.83% or 0.720 points to end at 18.100 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) shed 3.42% or 2.12 points to 59.92.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) which rose 4.87% to 113.10, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which was up 4.49% to settle at 19.45 and Teleperformance (PA:ROCH) which gained 3.67% to close at 121.40.
The worst performers were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which was down 8.05% to 10.51 in late trade, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which lost 6.02% to settle at 17.81 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was down 4.21% to 66.36 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 400 to 184 and 96 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 14.06% to 18.66.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.52% or 6.90 to $1311.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.25% or 0.77 to hit $60.87 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.54% or 1.00 to trade at $63.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.2210, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8891.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 90.63.
