Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.27%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI), which rose 1.01% or 1.05 points to trade at 104.90 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 0.79% or 0.15 points to end at 19.74 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) was up 0.72% or 0.28 points to 39.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics (PA:STM), which lost 3.82% or 0.625 points to trade at 15.745 in late trade. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) declined 3.43% or 1.75 points to end at 49.12 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) shed 2.77% or 0.600 points to 21.055.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 3.73% to 10.71, Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which was up 3.37% to settle at 28.245 and BIC (PA:BICP) which gained 2.25% to close at 102.35.
The worst performers were STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which was down 3.82% to 15.745 in late trade, Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) which lost 3.43% to settle at 49.12 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 3.32% to 57.140 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 317 to 271 and 109 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.31% to 11.94.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.05% or 13.62 to $1311.12 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.31% or 1.17 to hit $51.83 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.66% or 1.50 to trade at $57.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.95% to 1.1843, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 92.47.
