Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.18%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.37% or 0.18 points to trade at 13.31 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 1.20% or 0.68 points to end at 57.56 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was up 0.94% or 1.05 points to 112.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP), which lost 1.52% or 0.95 points to trade at 61.63 in late trade. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) declined 1.39% or 0.24 points to end at 16.99 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 1.30% or 1.50 points to 113.85.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which rose 3.40% to 13.98, Eurazeo (PA:EURA) which was up 1.83% to settle at 77.90 and Ipsen (PA:IPN) which gained 1.68% to close at 124.30.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 6.61% to 24.000 in late trade, Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which lost 3.75% to settle at 17.95 and Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which was down 3.33% to 40.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 321 to 238 and 96 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.30% to 15.49.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.18% or 2.40 to $1324.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.15% or 0.09 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.08 to trade at $64.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.2376, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8862.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 89.69.
