Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.08%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 3.09% or 1.81 points to trade at 60.41 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 2.50% or 0.51 points to end at 20.90 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 1.90% or 1.19 points to 63.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which lost 1.78% or 0.31 points to trade at 17.14 in late trade. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) declined 1.77% or 1.21 points to end at 67.30 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) shed 1.10% or 0.55 points to 49.01.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which rose 3.25% to 39.850, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which was up 3.09% to settle at 60.41 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which gained 2.50% to close at 20.90.
The worst performers were Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which was down 3.12% to 50.38 in late trade, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which lost 1.78% to settle at 17.14 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) which was down 1.77% to 67.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 304 to 297 and 88 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.57% to 11.97.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.13% or 1.61 to $1276.29 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.85% or 0.43 to hit $49.99 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.22 to trade at $55.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1763, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8863.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.29.
