Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.13%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.02%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR), which rose 4.75% or 0.432 points to trade at 9.524 at the close. Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) added 3.87% or 0.188 points to end at 5.048 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 2.81% or 1.34 points to 48.97 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which lost 1.00% or 0.65 points to trade at 64.57 in late trade. Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) declined 0.94% or 0.47 points to end at 49.30 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) shed 0.83% or 1.20 points to 143.50.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which rose 6.60% to 3.39, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 6.45% to settle at 3.30 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) which gained 4.75% to close at 9.524.

The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 1.77% to 28.625 in late trade, Havas (PA:HAVA) which lost 1.64% to settle at 7.540 and Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was down 1.60% to 117.10 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 426 to 251 and 82 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.03% to 19.41 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.58% or 7.15 to $1222.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.68% or 0.33 to hit $48.95 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.54 to trade at $49.15 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1153, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.7592.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 95.47.
