Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.87%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 2.44% or 2.24 points to trade at 94.21 at the close. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) added 1.87% or 0.35 points to end at 19.07 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 1.71% or 1.95 points to 115.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which lost 0.36% or 0.17 points to trade at 46.99 in late trade. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) declined 0.34% or 0.40 points to end at 117.00 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) gained 0.08% or 0.10 points to 127.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which rose 2.98% to 43.76, Biomerieux (PA:BIOX) which was up 2.96% to settle at 193.00 and STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which gained 2.63% to close at 14.460.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 0.70% to 4.400 in late trade, Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which lost 0.48% to settle at 22.820 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which was down 0.36% to 46.99 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 359 to 212 and 110 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 11.65% to 15.55.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.33% or 4.30 to $1292.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.88% or 0.42 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.37 to trade at $52.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1767, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.9168.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 93.36.
