Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.49%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PA:TOTF), which rose 1.73% or 0.82 points to trade at 48.40 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) added 1.52% or 1.60 points to end at 106.95 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 1.51% or 0.89 points to 59.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Klepierre (PA:LOIM), which lost 1.31% or 0.47 points to trade at 35.38 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.11% or 2.45 points to end at 218.20 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) shed 0.77% or 0.64 points to 81.96.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Rubis (PA:RUBF) which rose 4.57% to 84.65, Gemalto (AS:GTO) which was up 2.93% to settle at 56.90 and SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which gained 2.67% to close at 126.90.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 2.76% to 8.8200 in late trade, Mercialys (PA:MERY) which lost 2.38% to settle at 17.20 and Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which was down 1.35% to 22.335 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 330 to 273 and 96 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.78% to 14.69.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.03% or 0.35 to $1239.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.64% or 0.88 to hit $54.66 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.32% or 0.74 to trade at $56.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.0549, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8464.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 101.36.
