Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.38%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 5.42% or 2.07 points to trade at 40.24 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.50% or 0.360 points to end at 14.782 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 1.90% or 0.41 points to 22.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which lost 2.13% or 1.60 points to trade at 73.50 in late trade. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 0.78% or 0.10 points to end at 13.40 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) shed 0.71% or 1.00 points to 139.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which rose 5.51% to 6.32, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which was up 5.42% to settle at 40.24 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) which gained 4.53% to close at 37.81.
The worst performers were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 5.02% to 111.70 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 4.55% to settle at 2.641 and DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 3.53% to 18.590 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 332 to 217 and 101 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.96% to 12.30.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.46% or 6.45 to $1413.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.42% or 0.25 to hit $60.45 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.34 to trade at $66.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1266, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8965.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.470.
