Flynn Gold Ltd (ASX:FG1) has struck bonanza-grade gold in its first diamond drill hole at the Trafalgar prospect of the Golden Ridge Project in Tasmania, with three intersections returning above one ounce per tonne of gold.
The highest-grade intersection was 0.4 metres at 67.6 g/t gold, within a larger intercept of 1.3 metres at 21.9 g/t from 248.7 metres of depth.
Other bonanza-grade results were 0.3 metres at 39.2 g/t from 243.2 metres and 0.5 metres at 35.1 g/t within 1.4 metres at 12.7 g/t from 164.6 metres.
The company says the drilling has confirmed the continuity of multiple sub-parallel, high-grade gold veins at Trafalgar, offering an opportunity to grow the high-grade prospect further.
Validates refined model
“These are impressive early results from the first hole of our drilling campaign at the Trafalgar Prospect at Golden Ridge in Northeast Tasmania, adding further confidence to our understanding of Trafalgar as a multiple high-grade vein, intrusion-related gold deposit,” Flynn Gold managing director and CEO Neil Marston said.
“Earlier this year our exploration model for Trafalgar was refined and updated. Based on the new model this first drill hole was designed to test for mineralisation beneath the historical Trafalgar mine, and up-dip of previously intersected high-grade intervals.
“We have intersected high-grade mineralisation in the target zones, which increases confidence in our work and the ability to understand this high-grade gold system.
“We look forward to releasing further drilling results as this program progresses over the coming weeks.”
Drilling is still ongoing at Trafalgar, with drill hole TFDD017 recently completed and TFDD018 underway – the company expects to announce further results for TFDD016 and later holes in the near future.
Highlight assay results
Other assay results of note from the drilling at Trafalgar include:
- 0.65 metres at 10.5 g/t gold, including 0.3 metres at 19 g/t from 187.55 metres;
- 1.2 metres at 3.5 g/t, including 0.3 metres at 12.3 g/t from 233 metres; and
- 0.4 metres at 10.8 g/t from 135.2 metres.
These assays complement previous results from Trafalgar, which include multiple intersections grading above 100 g/t gold, including 5 metres at 12.56 g/t gold with a high-grade intersection of 0.4 metres at 150 g/t gold from 202 metres of depth.
