Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mapfre (MC:MAP), which rose 4.79% or 0.101 points to trade at 2.208 at the close. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) added 4.54% or 0.465 points to end at 10.705 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 4.51% or 0.224 points to 5.194 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bankia (MC:BKIA), which lost 4.67% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.836 in late trade. Ferrovial (MC:FER) declined 1.50% or 0.290 points to end at 19.045 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) shed 1.17% or 0.028 points to 2.359.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 140 to 61 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.69% or 20.90 to $1255.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.52% or 1.04 to hit $42.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.93% or 0.83 to trade at $43.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1372, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7905.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 94.00.
