GOVERNMENT: Czech President Milos Zeman plans to name Andrej Babis as prime minister for a second time before the middle of June, he told Czech Television on Monday, a move to speed up the formation of a new government.

A unit of China's state-owned CITIC has taken over the chairmanship position at CEFC Europe, a Czech-based part of the troubled Chinese conglomerate CEFC China Energy, CEFC Europe said on Monday.

The Czech central bank expects the crown to return to its appreciation trend after the currency fell to its lowest levels in 2018 last week, Governor Jiri Rusnok said in a live interview with news website idnes.cz on Monday.

MARKETS: Central Europe's most liquid currencies and some of its government bonds firmed on Monday after efforts to form an Italian government with a eurosceptic economy minister collapsed over the weekend, which was seen as market-positive.
