Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.83% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were ARC Resources Ltd . (TSX:ARX), which rose 2.74% or 0.48 points to trade at 18.01 at the close. Equinox Gold Corp (TSX:EQX) added 2.53% or 0.15 points to end at 6.07 and Thomson Reuters Corp (TSX:TRI) was up 2.48% or 4.27 points to 176.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spartan Delta Corp (TSX:SDE), which lost 7.83% or 0.40 points to trade at 4.71 in late trade. Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb) declined 6.70% or 4.34 points to end at 60.41 and Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY) shed 6.13% or 0.13 points to 1.99.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 632 to 336 and 98 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 3.61% to 12.33.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.30% or 5.80 to $1,929.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.26% or 0.18 to hit $69.33 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $74.06 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 0.76, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.32% to 0.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 102.52.
