Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Real Estate and REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Precision Drilling Corporation (TSX:PD), which rose 6.69% or 5.42 points to trade at 86.44 at the close. Vermilion Energy Inc . (TSX:VET) added 6.46% or 1.84 points to end at 30.34 and Crescent Point Energy Corp . (TSX:CPG) was up 4.52% or 0.43 points to 9.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Parkland Fuel Corporation (TSX:PKI), which lost 7.14% or 2.11 points to trade at 27.45 in late trade. Nuvei Corp (TSX:NVEI) declined 6.83% or 2.64 points to end at 36.01 and Ero Copper Corp (TSX:ERO) shed 6.66% or 1.07 points to 15.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 651 to 364 and 82 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.88% to 25.25.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.31% or 21.75 to $1,634.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.23% or 2.65 to hit $84.72 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.54% or 2.29 to trade at $92.32 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR rose 0.68% to 0.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.73% at 112.81.
