Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 607 to 444 and 94 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 8.0900% to 23.11000061.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 2.1800% or 41.45000076 to $1942.15002441 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 8.7900% or 8.40999985 to hit $104.12999725 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 7.7400% or 7.57999992 to trade at $105.55000305 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.4755% to 0.78495002, while CAD/EUR rose 0.4197% to 0.70574999.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.7400% at 97.40499878.
