Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Materials, Healthcare and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb), which rose 6.07% or 0.130 points to trade at 2.270 at the close. Lucara Diamond Corp (TO:LUC) added 5.22% or 0.120 points to end at 2.420 and Spin Master Corp (TO:TOY) was up 3.62% or 1.59 points to 45.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI), which lost 4.94% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.540 in late trade. Eldorado Gold Corporation (TO:ELD) declined 4.79% or 0.14 points to end at 2.78 and Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TO:FVI) shed 4.10% or 0.24 points to 5.62.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 591 to 488 and 138 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.01% to 10.95.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.98% or 12.87 to $1298.63 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.65% or 0.34 to hit $51.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.58 to trade at $57.85 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.12% to 0.8089, while CAD/EUR rose 0.66% to 0.6867.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 92.85.
