Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Clean Technology and Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which rose 6.17% or 0.075 points to trade at 1.290 at the close. Constellation Software Inc . (TSX:CSU) added 3.32% or 44.82 points to end at 1396.84 and SSR Mining Inc (TSX:SSRM) was up 3.21% or 0.74 points to 23.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:BLDP), which lost 11.91% or 1.940 points to trade at 14.350 in late trade. First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX:FM) declined 7.26% or 0.95 points to end at 12.14 and HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX:HBM) shed 6.29% or 0.31 points to 4.62.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 664 to 411 and 104 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.11% or 1.65 to $1558.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.56% or 0.33 to hit $58.25 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.68 to trade at $64.52 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.18% to 0.7650, while CAD/EUR fell 0.08% to 0.6901.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 97.352.
