Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Energy and REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX:FVI), which rose 5.42% or 0.25 points to trade at 4.86 at the close. OceanaGold Corporation (TSX:OGC) added 5.38% or 0.12 points to end at 2.35 and Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX:TXG) was up 5.31% or 0.67 points to 13.29 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:LAAC), which lost 8.12% or 0.66 points to trade at 7.47 in late trade. Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:LAC) declined 7.18% or 0.74 points to end at 9.56 and Birchcliff Energy Ltd . (TSX:BIR) shed 5.26% or 0.37 points to 6.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 492 to 482 and 117 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.15% to 13.38.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.02% or 19.95 to $1,984.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.85% or 3.72 to hit $72.94 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 4.51% or 3.66 to trade at $77.52 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.55% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.55% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 104.29.
