Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Spin Master Corp (TSX:TOY), which rose 12.14% or 4.12 points to trade at 38.05 at the close. Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY) added 9.15% or 0.27 points to end at 3.22 and Mullen Group Ltd . (TSX:MTL) was up 6.72% or 0.94 points to 14.93 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which lost 4.90% or 3.16 points to trade at 61.38 in late trade. Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS) declined 4.61% or 0.74 points to end at 15.30 and Secure Energy Services Inc . (TSX:SES) shed 4.27% or 0.28 points to 6.27.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 627 to 343 and 93 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 11.31% to 12.39.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.06% or 1.25 to $1,997.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.69% or 0.51 to hit $74.81 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.56 to trade at $78.28 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.53% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 101.24.
