Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Energy and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Aurora Cannabis Inc (TO:ACB), which rose 10.42% or 1.040 points to trade at 11.020 at the close. Aphria Inc (TO:APH) added 6.56% or 1.280 points to end at 20.800 and Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED) was up 6.48% or 4.100 points to 67.330 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Interfor Corp (TO:IFP), which lost 5.64% or 1.22 points to trade at 20.40 in late trade. West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd . (TO:WFT) declined 4.92% or 4.24 points to end at 81.87 and Canfor Corporation (TO:CFP) shed 4.88% or 1.45 points to 28.29.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 650 to 442 and 124 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 19.26% to 11.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.23% or 2.80 to $1203.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.51% or 1.04 to hit $69.72 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.28% or 1.00 to trade at $79.05 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.50% to 0.7705, while CAD/EUR rose 0.61% to 0.6602.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.19.
