Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Financials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which rose 8.48% or 3.77 points to trade at 48.22 at the close. Trisura Group Ltd (TSX:TSU) added 5.95% or 2.19 points to end at 38.98 and NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:NG) was up 4.42% or 0.14 points to 3.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Magna International Inc (TSX:MG), which lost 6.74% or 5.32 points to trade at 73.58 in late trade. New Gold Inc (TSX:NGD) declined 5.95% or 0.10 points to end at 1.58 and Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD) shed 4.82% or 0.96 points to 18.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 474 to 463 and 115 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 6.67% to 11.05.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.41% or 8.35 to $2,039.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.41% or 0.31 to hit $76.53 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.28 to trade at $81.91 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.12% to 0.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 103.93.
