Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Financials and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Shopify Inc (TSX:SHOP), which rose 17.13% or 6.76 points to trade at 46.22 at the close. Osisko Mining Corp (TSX:OSK) added 9.23% or 0.25 points to end at 2.96 and NFI Group Inc (TSX:NFI) was up 6.47% or 0.58 points to 9.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX:CTS), which lost 11.41% or 0.77 points to trade at 5.98 in late trade. Park Lawn Corp (TSX:PLC) declined 8.72% or 1.99 points to end at 20.83 and Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC) shed 7.48% or 0.73 points to 9.03.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 542 to 467 and 99 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.17% to 23.33.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 3.60 to $1,665.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.74% or 0.65 to hit $88.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.77 to trade at $94.56 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR rose 1.00% to 0.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.83% at 110.46.
