Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Clean Technology, REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.08% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Ag Growth International Inc (TSX:AFN), which rose 7.72% or 3.39 points to trade at 47.31 at the close. Superior Plus Corp (TSX:SPB) added 6.11% or 0.73 points to end at 12.67 and Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:BLDP) was up 6.09% or 0.500 points to 8.710 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:WEED), which lost 14.21% or 3.475 points to trade at 20.975 in late trade. Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX:ACB) declined 6.82% or 0.32 points to end at 4.37 and Cronos Group Inc (TSX:CRON) shed 6.04% or 0.5800 points to 9.0300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 544 to 507 and 121 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 29.89% to 6.59 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 8.15 to $1471.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.37% or 0.21 to hit $56.91 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $62.38 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.02% to 0.7547, while CAD/EUR fell 0.08% to 0.6849.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 98.050.
