Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Industrials and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were ARC Resources Ltd . (TSX:ARX), which rose 5.20% or 0.52 points to trade at 10.52 at the close. Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TSX:GOOS) added 4.15% or 2.16 points to end at 54.20 and Badger Infrastructure Solutions Ltd (TSX:BDGI) was up 3.18% or 1.16 points to 37.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SunOpta Inc . (TSX:SOY), which lost 5.69% or 0.90 points to trade at 14.92 in late trade. BlackBerry Ltd (TSX:BB) declined 4.98% or 0.78 points to end at 14.87 and Westport Fuel Systems Inc (TSX:WPRT) shed 4.56% or 0.32 points to 6.69.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 522 to 475 and 116 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.11% or 1.95 to $1778.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.91% or 0.67 to hit $73.97 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.51 to trade at $76.07 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.17% to 0.8127, while CAD/EUR rose 0.17% to 0.6810.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 91.812.
