Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Clean Technology and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:LAC), which rose 11.04% or 2.15 points to trade at 21.62 at the close. Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TSX:GOOS) added 6.42% or 2.84 points to end at 47.09 and Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:BLDP) was up 5.69% or 1.06 points to 19.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX:FM), which lost 3.40% or 0.86 points to trade at 24.46 in late trade. Innergex Renewable Energy Inc . (TSX:INE) declined 3.13% or 0.63 points to end at 19.48 and Franco-Nevada Corporation (TSX:FNV) shed 2.99% or 5.74 points to 186.49.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 503 to 496 and 117 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.45 to $1789.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.28% or 1.51 to hit $64.83 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 1.17 to trade at $67.86 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.03% to 0.7913, while CAD/EUR fell 0.04% to 0.6756.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.00% at 93.148.
