Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 4.20% or 0.41 points to trade at 10.18 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 4.49% or 1.21 points to end at 28.15 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was up 4.10% or 0.98 points to 24.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which lost 4.45% or 1.03 points to trade at 22.11 in late trade. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) declined 1.65% or 0.15 points to end at 8.94 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) shed 1.43% or 1.14 points to 78.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 293 to 163 and 32 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.84% to 27.29.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1323.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.10% or 0.68 to hit $61.36 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.59% or 0.71 to trade at $119.62 .
USD/BRL was up 0.08% to 3.2575, while EUR/BRL rose 0.32% to 4.0186.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 89.88.
