Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.40%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BRU:TNET), which rose 2.04% or 1.06 points to trade at 53.06 at the close. Meanwhile, Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) added 1.06% or 0.580 points to end at 55.280 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BRU:COLR) was up 1.03% or 0.43 points to 42.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which fell 4.83% or 0.42 points to trade at 8.37 at the close. Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) declined 3.20% or 0.49 points to end at 14.97 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) was down 2.78% or 3.75 points to 131.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 93 to 65 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) fell to all time lows; down 4.83% or 0.42 to 8.37. Shares in Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.20% or 0.49 to 14.97.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.82% or 20.30 to $1137.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.54% or 1.66 to hit $45.24 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.29% or 1.12 to trade at $47.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.1376, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.7300.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 94.82.
