Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Beverage sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which rose 2.96% or 0.24 points to trade at 8.39 at the close. Meanwhile, Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) added 2.28% or 2.26 points to end at 101.25 and Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) was up 2.15% or 0.81 points to 38.32 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KBC (BRU:KBC), which fell 1.79% or 1.010 points to trade at 55.370 at the close. Elia (BRU:ELI) declined 1.60% or 0.705 points to end at 43.295 and Proximus NV (BRU:PROX) was down 1.33% or 0.40 points to 29.61.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 81 to 72 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.17% or 13.40 to $1157.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.59% or 0.29 to hit $49.72 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.28 to trade at $52.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.1372, while EUR/GBP rose 1.03% to 0.7423.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.58% at 94.85.
