Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Pharma & Bio-technology, Media and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which rose 10.03% or 6.70 points to trade at 73.50 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.53% or 2.260 points to end at 91.600 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 1.18% or 0.59 points to 50.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 3.77% or 2.86 points to trade at 73.08 in late trade. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) declined 2.35% or 1.00 points to end at 41.51 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 2.10% or 0.28 points to 13.08.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 62 to 53 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 5.80 to $1233.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.10% or 0.77 to hit $68.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.71 to trade at $79.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1484, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8797.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 95.48.
