Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Telecoms and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which rose 1.38% or 2.05 points to trade at 150.20 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 0.53% or 0.70 points to end at 133.05 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 0.20% or 0.07 points to 35.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 7.54% or 3.38 points to trade at 41.39 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 1.92% or 0.54 points to end at 27.58 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.41% or 1.040 points to 72.710.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 66 to 51 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.54% or 6.70 to $1248.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.79% or 0.45 to hit $56.69 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.42% or 0.90 to trade at $62.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1763, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8805.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 93.88.
