Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 0.96% or 1.25 points to trade at 131.25 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 0.56% or 0.400 points to end at 71.250 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) was up 0.33% or 0.13 points to 39.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 2.64% or 1.06 points to trade at 39.26 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) declined 2.19% or 2.30 points to end at 102.95 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 1.91% or 1.22 points to 62.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 72 to 40 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.45% or 5.80 to $1275.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.37% or 0.21 to hit $57.14 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.81% or 0.52 to trade at $63.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1585, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 94.83.
